Online Research Resources

A.C. Davis High School Library provides access to subscription databases not available through open internet sites (such as Google).  Materials include periodicals, books, encyclopedias (Spanish and English), newspaper articles, maps, newspapers, government documents, newswires, TV and radio transcripts, theses, dissertations, career information, career-interest surveys, professional databases, and engine repair information.

Passwords may not be necessary if databases are accessed from school computers; however, if accessed from home computers, these sites may require access information.  Contact a library staff member for a list of usernames and passwords.
 

  • EBSCO Host

    Periodicals, books, newspaper articles (including primary-source history documents, college level literature,ERIC, and a comprehensive health database).

  • FastWeb

    Fastweb is the premier online resource for paying and preparing for college.

  • Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

    Federal Student Aid, a part of the U.S. Department of Education, is the largest provider of student financial aid in the nation. More than $150 billion in federal grants, loans, and work-study funds are awarded each year to more than 15 million students paying for college or career school.

  • Project Gutenberg

    A free online library of electronic books or ebooks aimed to digitize, archive and distribute literary works, starting in 1971 when Michael Hart began with the Declaration of Independence, some American classics, the Bible, the works of Shakespeare.and other books in the public domain. The volunteer effort has gone from producing one ebook a month in 1991 to 32 books a month in 1996.

  • Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL)

    Access citation and bibliographic information from the Purdue Writing Lab: MLA (liberal arts & humanities), APA (psychology, education, and social sciences) as well as Chicago (the third most widely used citation style). A.C. Davis High School students most commonly use MLA format.
